GRESB is a company that provides transparent social, governance and environmental data to financial markets. They collect data from ESG benchmarks for investors and managers. They also support with - for example - improving the business intelligence or industry engagement. The company looks at each case individually and provides a consistent framework to measure the ESG performance.  

Sustainability and climate change are important topics for GRESB. They know that transitioning to a more sustainable environment is a fundamental challenge, but crucial to avoid bad impacts on the climate. The company wants to play a central role in this subject and believes that we must face this together to create a better world.

GRESB, Amsterdam

The GRESB platform serves participants, investors, and partners which use a multitude of products. These products vary from reporting frameworks to analytical tools and reports. As a quality assurance intern you will be in close contact with our Product and Technology teams to understand and solve customer facing issues, feature requests, and support in testing the functionalities of our products. During your internship you will develop a deep understanding of the underlying mechanisms running our products. You will learn from an entrepreneurial team with content expertise and technical skills and have the freedom to work independently.

Key responsibilities

  • Build a deep understanding of the GRESB products;
  • Identifying (re-)occurring customer facing issues and help in suggesting solutions;
  • Be up-to-date on upcoming changes to our portal and anticipate on potential customer constraints;
  • Document quality assurance activities to work towards a regression testing suite;
  • Test new features or bug fixes to existing products;
  • Help formulating test cases;
  • Analyze and synthesize data to cross-check changes made to our products.

• Can translate the strategic and product vision of GRESB into a long-term software architecture for the team. 

• Has a keen interest in what it takes to nurture an energizing culture and a high performing team.

The Team

The team consists of product owners, software engineers, UX designers, and data scientists coming from various backgrounds. We’re currently with a total of 16 people coming from 12 different nationalities. In 2021 we will significantly grow the team, mainly in terms of software engineering capabilities. We embrace and value agile thinking, open communication and a collaborative spirit. 

The position

You will help us maintain and extend our platform. This involves upgrading and refactoring older components as well as writing new well tested features. We are open to new ideas that will help us deliver more value, more efficiently, and more scalable by redesigning parts of the products and processes. 

GRESB is currently in a transitional phase, which means we are focusing our efforts on streamlining the codebase so that we can innovate and grow rapidly and sustainably over the next few years.

You are a “force multiplier” with excellent communication and mentoring skills, helping other developers to increase their craftsmanship. You:

• have strong professional skills

• are a self-starter 

• thrive on change and creating business impact. 

• have a very pragmatic approach

• can function at your best in a company in a transitional phase

You should also have a proven track record of creating and implementing a technology architecture that supports a business strategy in a start-up/scale up environment.

Our tech stack includes Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Memcached, StimulusJS and a sprinkling of Grape, Go and React. It's deployed on AWS via a CI/CD pipeline.
